Robert Sinskey Vineyards

Napa, CA

Robert Sinskey Vineyards (RSV), a biodynamic winery in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District, was built as a imposing fortress in 1987. In expanding both its wine production, as well as guest and office facilities, this multi-phase project reconnects the winery to the agragrian nature of the vineyards that surround it. With the expansion, RSV will accommodate special dinners and tastings as well as offering food and wine pairing classes and cooking demonstrations in an expanded format. The open offices are designed to provide a casual, connected working environment. And all of it will be done in a building that reflects their core values of environmental responsibility and stewardship.

In addition to wetlands process water treatment ponds marking the entry,  careful attention to the roof overhangs, building insulation, and window performance allow for a near doubling of useable square footage with a negligible increase in the energy consumption of the facility. Just over half of the power used by the winery will continue to be produced on-site by an existing 72kW photovoltaic array.
